The Jens Søndergaards Museum in Bovbjerg
The Jens Søndergaard Museum is placed on the outermost edge of the cliff, at the village of Ferring, in a magnificent setting, the museum with its fine small collection of seascapes and other motifs from the area offers you the possibility of combining the experience of art and nature.
Jens Søndergaard (1895-1957) was an expressionist artist from the first half of the 20th century. His fascination by the strong powers of nature, the sheer cliffs at the sea and the lines of the landscape is expressed on the canvas with strong colours and curving lines. The sea encountering the land is often dramatic in northwest Jutland. This is expressed in his very characteristic human figures too. His paintings gives an impression of human powerlessness but also of the greatness of nature.
